Some of the reasons Oreana’s classmates chose her, in their words:

  • “She is kind and funny.”
  • “She is a good friend. She never talks about me, even if people do in the group.”
  • “She is nice and creative. She is nice to all her friends and everyone. Whenever I look sad she asks ‘Are you ok?’, even if I’m just bored.”
  • “She is a nice and funny friend to me, her friends, and other people she meets.”
  • “She is kind and smart, and the most best friend to me. She is the best kid you can find. You’ll find her very amusing and fun. She will love you and treat you like her sister.”
  • “When I am sad she asks if I am okay, and always sits by me.”

Her teacher, Mrs. Charles, says: “Oreana is a thoughtful, hard working student who always makes herself available to help others. If someone is having a rough day or feeling discouraged, Oreana is often one of the first people to check in and see how she can help. She is a team player and works hard to encourage others to do their best. Because of her quiet nature, sometimes her kind gestures and thoughtful actions can go unnoticed, which is why I am so glad to see Oreana receive this recognition. She brightens each day and makes our classroom, our grade and our school a better place. We are so thankful for you!”
