Bethel Archers

Last week 26 Bethel Archers traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah to compete in the first ever Western Nationals for the National Archery in the Schools Program.  Competing against hundreds of archers from across the Western States, the archers from Bethel came away with their first ever podium appearance as a team.

The Bethel High School archers took 3rd place in the 3-D team competition held on Saturday.  In the same competition the Middle School archers (Grades 6-8) narrowly missed a spot on the podium.  They were edged out by SCURRY-ROSSER Middle School by 12 points, placing them 4th.

Also in the 3-D competition, High School archer Rylee Johnson placed 6th individually.  She was just two points from a spot on the podium.

The 3-D competition involves each archer moving through a course of 6 different animal targets that are placed at varying distances.   These animals vary in size from a turkey to a Stone Sheep.

In the Bulls eye competition, the Bethel Middle School team placed 7th.  Individually, Bethel’s Samuel Beans-Polk took 7th place in the Boys High School Division.
